Welcome back to the overview of my Bright Future Program!
Last week’s Mental and Physical Health discussion dealt with finding activities you enjoy to help change our focus. As we continue with pillar 4 in this series, I wanted to encourage you to try to read more as a way of strengthening your mental health. Reading helps stimulate the creative, idea-generation areas of our brain, which helps with our overall mental strength. Even if you cannot read yourself because of your illness, I’d encourage you to ask someone to help by reading to you as this can provide some of the same benefits.
I’ve got an update for you on my weight-loss journey as I continue improving my physical health. Before I even started, I wrote down my reasons for wanting to lose some weight. This list may not seem important, but it serves to provide focus and motivation as i move forward. I’d love to have you join me on this journey and to hear your words of encouragement!
What have you done to increase your mental strength? Let me know in the comments below!
For more information on my recovery story, please check out my book To Cry a Dry Tear: Bill MacPhee’s journey of hope and recovery with schizophrenia.
Please help me reach those who need this information by sharing it with those you know who would benefit.
